BGAN BGAN: Global Broadband
BGAN terminals are portable, compact and lightweight and can be carried as easily as a laptop. Terminals can be connected quickly and easily to multiple laptops via wired or wireless connections, including Bluetooth or WiFi, depending on the terminal. Terminals can be used indoors and outdoors and are robust enough to withstand challenging environments and extremes of temperature With BGAN, data applications can be accessed at speeds up to half a megabit while simultaneously making a phone call. Guaranteed data rates on demand, with a choice of data rates, are available. Network capacity can be re-directed to ensure bandwidth availability. BGAN supports the latest IP services, as well as traditional circuit-switched voice and data. BGAN supports legacy applications providing a smooth upgrade path to IP and integrating seamlessly with corporate networks. BGAN is designed for simplicity and ease of use. No specialist technical expertise is required to set it up and use it. Costs can be managed via real-time tracking of service usage and charges. The same device can be used worldwide. The user interface is standard across all terminals and can be customized to requirements. There are no compatibility issues with local telecomms networks, as BGAN connects directly to the satellite.
BGan is completely secure and supports all major VPN products and encryption standards. Features Streaming IP- For applications where quality of service is paramount, such as live video or videoconferencing, BGAN offers a Streaming IP service up to 256kbps on demand. The data rate can be selected on a case-by-case basis, depending on your application. Guaranteed Access secures guaranteed capacity. Familiar GAN-standard 64 kbps ISDN, Fax and 4.8 kbps voice to fixed, mobile and any other mobile satellite service.
Voice - With BGAN, voice calls can be made while accessing your data applications. A standard desktop phone, custom handset or a Bluetooth handset/headset (depending on the BGAN terminal) can be used. Supplementary services, e.g. call hold, call waiting and voicemail are supported. SMS - BGAN allows you to send and receive text messages via a laptop, up to the standard 160 characters, to or from any mobile phone.
