Airtime
Thuraya handsets are able to make calls either via satellite or via the local GSM network (post-paid only).
Thuraya airtime is available in either on a Pre-paid or Post-paid basis.
Pre-paid
A customer is required to purchase a SIM card. Thereafter, cards can be recharged with airtime as and when needed.

Call costs for GSM calls carry a premium over the local GSM rates which is lower than traditional GSM roaming costs.
Post-paid
Post-paid is available for the bigger user. A once-off activation fee and a monthly access charge is payable. In addition, a deposit commensurate with the expected monthly usage is required. Call costs are slightly higher than the prepaid rates quoted above. |
