Simply, this terminal, which is SIM card operated, needs to be connected via Ethernet interface to a notebook or a computer. Web based user interface provides details of the operational status of the connection. Point the antenna in the direction of the satellite. Once connected, you can enjoy access to the high-speed Internet and data communications world with its various applications. ThurayaDSL offers a similar experience to that in terrestrial Internet service at office or home, providing a broad range of applications such as Email, Internet, Web Browsing, File Transfer Protocol, and Virtual Private Network and other data facilities. The real attraction in this offering is that it is highly affordable especially the “unlimited usage” aspect. The service is offered on both Postpaid and Prepaid bases. In view of the varying sizes and customer’s needs, Thuraya has come up with four Postpaid service packages: Light, Plenty, Extra and Unlimited, reflecting different usage volumes and price denominations. The rate depending on volume varies. There is an unlimited usage package where the monthly rate is fixed irrespective of the volume of data. A once-off activation fee and a monthly access charge is payable but is waived on the unlimited usage package.
