How Talkgroups Work (Simple Explanation)
 
Think of a talkgroup like a private radio channel or WhatsApp group for voice.
Each device is assigned to one or more talkgroups
When you press the PTT button, everyone in that talkgroup hears you instantly
You can have different groups for different teams (e.g. Security, Ops, Management)
With the Iridium Communications system, these talkgroups are not fixed—they are managed online through the PTT Command Center.
This means:
You can add or remove users remotely
You can create new talkgroups anytime
You can change who talks to who in real time
It’s essentially a live-controlled communication network, not a traditional radio setup.
 
How the Subscription Works
The subscription is what activates the PTT service on the device.
Here’s the key idea:
1. You’re subscribing to a PTT network, not just a SIM (But the phone can boot into sim mode or PTT mode, but not both at the same time)
