Thuraya SIM Card Validity: What You Need to Know
The short version: Keep at least 39 units on your SIM at all times, and make a call or top up at least once every 12 months.
Annual fee Thuraya deducts an annual fee on the anniversary of your SIM activation date. For Thuraya Prepaid NOVA and Thuraya Prepay SIMs — the most common types — this fee is 39 units. If you're not sure which type of SIM you have, contact us and we'll help you figure it out.
Inactive SIM fee Haven't used your SIM in over 12 months? Thuraya will start charging you 19 units per month until you do. The fix is simple: make a call or do a recharge at least once a year.
Not enough credit when your annual fee is due? Your SIM won't be cancelled immediately. Instead, it enters a 12-month grace period — you can still receive calls, but you won't be able to make them. Top up during this time and Thuraya will automatically deduct the outstanding fee, restore full outgoing call capability and resetting your 12-month validity.
SIM expired? You'll need a reactivation If you miss the grace period without topping up, your SIM will need to be reactivated. Contact us directly and we'll arrange this for you — note that a reactivation fee applies.
